  • Blood Donation 2017 at IBS College Miri

    MIRI - On 17th January 2017, 9am-12:30pm, IBS College has organized a Blood Donation Event for the first time in year 2017. This event also serves as guidance for the new council members’ of 2017 to learn how to organize an event. The event begins by helping the Red Crescent Organization to move the medical equipment to IBS Studio. The event later began by inviting the students of IBS College to join the Blood Donation Event. Besides, some of the committee are very passionate and walk through the whole Pelita area in order to invite more people to join the event. In the end, a total of 40 donors successfully donated their blood. Finally, the event ended and the committees rearranged the tables and chairs back to IBS Studio and helped to move the medical equipment back to the van.

    实习培训的目的是让学生接触到实际的工作经验和环境,同时能帮助他们提高工作及社会上的知识等。从此实习培训中,学生们也将学习到职业上的道德,沟通技巧,管理等的技能。此外,这培训计划里,能让学生学习到课业上相关理论的知识与行业中的应用。

    在实习培训里,学生有机会在一个特定职业里寻找到自己的兴趣及强项。此外,学生也可以学习到责任感,承诺和守信的良好职业道德价值观。

    IBS学院生Lim Hui Mei,在Dayang Enterprise Sdn Bhd完成了她的工作实习,在这三个月实习里也让她了解和体会到团队精神生的重要性可以帮助公司提供良好的果效。

    她说:“实习培训是非常具有挑战性的,但对我来说是很宝贵的经验,我相信在我完成学业后的实习里所体会的经历能够让我准备我自己在面对未来的职业生涯。”

  • Kem Kepimpinan Pengawas SMK St Joseph bersama Kolej IBS Miri

    Miri- Pada hari sabtu 7 mei yang lepas Kolej IBS Miri dari unit kaunseling telah bekerjasama dengan SMK St Joseph Miri bagi mengadakan Kem Kepimpinan Pengawas seramai 80 orang pemilihan bagi sesi 2016.

    Dalam memangkin kepimpinan modal insan dalam kalangan pelajar Kolej IBS Miri sekali lagi diberi amanah dan kepercayaan untuk bersama mengangkat serta memberi kata-kata semangat kepada calon pengawas .

    Kem kepimpinan ini dikongsi oleh pegawai Program Kaunsellor dari Kolej IBS Miri iaitu Encik Ricky Donald Anak Berji dan encik Derell anak Ladi, latihan dalam kumpulan yang berupa permainan dalam telah dikongsi bagi mengasah dan menguji kerjasama antara kumpulan. Antara bahan yang diketengahkan ialah keupayaan berkomunikasi melalui permainan mesej berantai, justeru selepas itu pelajar akan didedahkan kesimpulan hasil dari aktiviti yang dimainkan.

    Di akhir kem kepimpinan ini para pelajar sekali lagi diterapkan dengan nilai-nilai murni serta keyakinan yang jitu dalam menghadapi tugas seharian mereka, hasil dari aktiviti juga menunjukkan komen serta tindak balas yang positif melalui sesi soal jawab dengan para pelajar.

  • IBS COLLEGE MOTIVATED SMK TRUSAN STUDENTS BY OFFERING RM50,000 SCHOLARSHIP

    Kolej IBS Miri was recently invited to give a motivational talk to about 50 SPM candidates of SMK Trusan, Lawas. The one and a half hour talk was shared by Mr Ricky Donald, Course counselor of IBS College. Apart from tips to avoid stress, the students are also invited to join dismantling of the problems themselves through sharing of experiences and answering session.

    At the end of this lecture the students once again applied to the values and beliefs that are accurate in the face of their daily interactions, the results of the talks also show comments as well as the positive response by a question and answer session with the students.

  • IBS COLLEGE STUDENTS RECEIVED BB1M BOOK VOUCHER

    MIRI: IBS College, a private college of higher education here that was awarded five stars under MyQUEST of The Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia in 2014/2015, recently organised a book voucher handing over ceremony to distribute the Baucer Buku 1Malaysia (BB1M).

    A total of 344 students received the book vouchers valued at RM250 each and total of RM86, 000 have been dispersed to IBS students from the government. Distribution of book vouchers only involves students under degree and diploma program.

    Jonah Justin, student majoring in Accounting and Finance, one of BB1M voucher recipients, said he felt grateful by the help from the government in helping students to reduce their burden to buy textbooks, reference materials or stationeries and journals.

    "Every semester I need to buy a new reference book, and it was costly. Therefore, by using BB1M it can save cost for me as a student. I wish to thank the government for this caring and creative way of helping us in our studies and I hope all the students will make use of the vouchers to buy all their relevant study materials,” he added.

    Dr Antony Hii, the president and chief executive officer of IBS said that as the new semester had just begun, the book voucher arrived just on time to help the students in buying their textbooks and other learning materials for the year.

  • CHALLENGES FOR GENERATION Z & ALPHA, WITH COLLEGE IBS Miri

    In conjunction with Student Orientation Program for Diploma of Vocational Malaysia, IBS College recently been invited to hold a motivation talk for 200 students of Diploma of Vocational Malaysia at Vocational College Miri (KVM).

    The program, entitled "Challenges and Alpha Generation Z" carried out for 2 hours was presented by the principal of IBS College Miri, Dr Antony Hii. This program is part of a community service and mutual cooperation between IBS Colleges and schools in Miri.

    The main objective of this program is to help students understand the challenges that will be faced by them in the future. In his talk, Dr Hii highlighted some of the strengths and weaknesses of the Generation Z and Alpha to students.

    "This talk was highly interactive and the students found it very informative. Its helped many students to actually know the advantages and disadvantages of their generation so that they will be able to use these advantages to achieve their dreams and aspirations in the future. "Tips and information presented by Dr Hii really means to enhance the motivation of our students," said Mrs. Choo Siak Lan, Principal of Vocational College Miri. The students seem to focus and cooperate in the activities conducted such as "Search and Coming" and "Flying Egg".

    At the ends of the seminar, Mrs. Choo represents KVM presented certificates of appreciation to Dr Hii on his willingness to deliver the seminar to the students.

  • IBS College credits its 47 new students, Students Council

    MIRI: IBS College marked its 18th year of excellence yesterday by rewarding exemplary students for their efforts in their studies.

    At its Annual Recognition Day yesterday, the college presented scholarship awards to 47 new students who had achieved excellent results in their SPM examinations.

    Nine students who showed academic excellence last year also received the Best Student Award and six students who recommended their friends to join IBS College were presented with the Best Student Ambassador Award.

    “IBS College’s commitment in providing quality education has been a key success factor, where this year, the college was awarded a Five-Star ranking under MyQuest by the Ministry of Higher Education.” said principal and CEO Dr Antony Hii in his welcoming address at the event.

    In its efforts to provide a better education services to the students, Dr Hii said this year the college has spend about RM 370 thousand in renovating the campus facilities which included the new design of class room and also computer lab.

    “After 18 years of achievements, IBS College today owes its success to its team of dedicated lecturers and the contribution of many individuals who have worked hard to turn the college into a premier local private institution of higher learning in Sarawak,” he added.

    Meanwhile Dr Antony in his brief speech said 87 percent of IBS College graduates found employment in less than six months after graduation in their respective fields.

    Dr Hii also explained that in view of the growing number of degree students, the students themselves have banded together to establish a Student Council which would focus on student welfare.

    Chan Guo Jiun was elected as president of IBS Student Council for the year 2016-2017 while Hong Yap Siang was elected as vice president.

    Grace Siew Ling Choo and Chia Shiau Ern hold the posts of secretary and treasurer, respectively, while sixteen diploma students and eight degree students other were elected as committee members.

  • IBS College Miri Receives Visit from Yayasan Sarawak

    IBS College Miri recently received a visit from the Director of Yayasan Sarawak ,Datu Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar Bin Marzuki.

    The visit began with a short briefing about IBS College Miri by the Principal of the College, Dr. Antony Hii. He also shared the successes that IBS College received during 2014 and 2015. At the same time, he also explains about the future plan of IBS College to Yang Berbhg. Datu Haji Muhammad.

    The short but meaningful visit ended with a presentation of gift to the teachers by Dr Hii. Teachers were invited to tour round the college which accompanied by Dr Hii and IBS staffs. The program closed after a group photo-taking session together with IBS College`s staff.

  • Sarawak Energy meterai MoU dengan Kolej IBS, Kolej Sunway di Galleria, Menara Sarawak Energy (Utusan Borneo)

    KUCHING: Sarawak Energy memeterai memorandum persefahaman (MoU) dengan Kolej IBS dan Kolej Sunway Kuching dalam satu majlis yang berlangsung di Galleria, Menara Sarawak Energy di sini, semalam.

    Pemeteraian MoU itu adalah untuk menjalin kerjasama dengan syarikat penyedia tenaga elektrik negeri ini dalam menyediakan latihan industri, peluang pekerjaan dan biasiswa kepada pelajar terbaik daripada kedua-dua kolej berkenaan.

    MoU antara ketiga-tiga pihak ini telah ditandatangani oleh Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Sarawak Energy Datuk Torstein Dale Sjotviet, Prinsipal Kolej IBS Dr Antony Hii dan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Kolej Sunway Kuching Joseph Lim.

    Terdahulu dalam ucapannya, Torstein berkata syarikat telah bekerjasama dengan kerajaan negeri membangunkan Koridor Tenaga Diperbaharui Sarawak (SCORE) bagi memastikan golongan muda menerima bayaran gaji yang tinggi dalam sektor tempatan tanpa perlu ke luar negeri.

    Menerusi program tahunan biasiswa bernilai RM8 juta, syarikat katanya bekerjasama dengan institusi-institusi pengajian tinggi tempatan untuk menyediakan jaminan peluang pekerjaan kepada graduan terbaik dalam industri.

    “Program biasiswa ini merupakan sebahagian kecil daripada keseluruhan agenda pembangunan kami untuk mempersiapkan golongan muda Sarawak merebut ribuan peluang pekerjaan baharu dalam SCORE,” katanya.

    Dalam pada itu program biasiswa ini diperkenalkan pada 2014 dan tahun ini sahaja syarikat telah menerima lebih 700 permohonan dengan 55 telah dipilih manakala 96 lagi dalam senarai pendek.

    Sementara itu Dr Antony dalam ucapan ringkasnya berkata 87 peratus daripada graduan Kolej IBS memperolehi pekerjaan dalam tempoh kurang daripada enam bulan selepas menamatkan pengajian dalam bidang masing-masing.

    Kebolehpekerjaan graduan Kolej IBS adalah didorong oleh program penempatan industri yang dijalankan di mana pelajar perlu mengikuti latihan industri selama tiga hingga enam bulan sebelum menamatkan pengajian.

    Menerusi MoU ini katanya, masa depan pelajar Kolej IBS akan lebih cerah kerana berpeluang menjalani latihan industri bersama Sarawak Energy yang merupakan antara pemain industri terbesar di negeri ini.

    Baru-baru ini, syarikat turut memeterai MoU dengan Bakun Charitable Trust untuk menyediakan sokongan pendidikan kepada pelajar Penan di daerah Bakun terutama yang terjejas dengan Loji Hidroelektrik Murum yang baharu siap.

  • IBS College lives it up with Hollywood Ball (The Borneo Post)

    MIRI: IBS College held a glorious annual ball on Friday evening, proving that the gloomy economic situation would not dampen the excitement and high hopes of students who will be graduating soon.

    With this year’s theme entitled ‘Hollywood Stars Night’, many came dressed to the hilt to mimick their Hollywood stars.

    Added to the night’s mystique was the fact that IBS College is celebrating its 17th anniversary this year. The Student Council, which was put in charge with organising the ball, went the extra mile to ensure the ball at Meritz Hotel was an unforgettable one.

    The night started with the college’s principal Dr Antony Hii opening his speech with kudos to the Student Council headed by its president Amanda Kong in organising this year’s event.

    Hii noted the three main achievements for the Student Council for this year’s ball, namely that the council secured the most number of sponsors, the most number of attendees with around 340 guests including alumni members and students including degree undergrads and working adult students.

    The annual ball was also a farewell dinner for students who will be graduating soon.

    Besides the sumptuous set dinner prepared by the hotel’s chefs, highlights of the night were live bands, dance performances, bridal fashion show and also lucky draws where many went home gleefully with attractive prizes from the sponsors.

  • PCAM gets Sponsorship from IBS College for Charity

    The Care Association of Miri`s (PCAM) has received RM 2,000 in sponsorship form IBS College Miri to host this year`s `Run For Love` charity jogathon which scheduled for flag-off this Oct 11.

    Jogathon Organising Chairman, Richard Wong received the sponsorship cheque from IBS College Miri`s Principle, Dr Antony Hii.

    Dr Hii said the sponsorship came under the college`s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

    “This is something very meaningful to involve to assists NGO (non-governmental organisations) and to recognize their fund-raising afford. Apart from the money donated, IBS College also will send 40 students to take part in the jogathon” he said.

    `Run For Love`, which will begin from the Piasau Boat Club, is targeting over 500 participants who will run for 5km or 10 km.

    The registration fee is RM50 each, with categories being Man`s Open (ages 18 and above), Woman’s Open (ages 18 and above), Boys` Junior (ages 12 to 17) and Girls` Junior (ages 12 to 17). Those completing the run will each receive a finisher`s medal.

  • Kolej IBS Miri Mencuit Hati pelajar Tingkatan 6 SMK Luar Bandar Miri

    Kolej IBS Miri sekali lagi menawan serta mencuit hati para pelajar tingkatan 6 Atas dari sekolah SMK Luar Bandar Miri yang bakal menempuh peperiksaan STPM 2015. Kolej IBS Miri telah terpilih untuk memberikan pendedahan dan ceramah mengenai topik cara-cara mengendalikan Tekanan dalam kalangan pelajar.

    Ceramah serta perkongsian ini disampaikan oleh pegawai dari unit Program kaunselor Encik Derell Ladi Anak Saga serta dibantu oleh pegawai kauselor Encik Ricky Donald Anak Berji serta diselia oleh Ketua Unit Pembangunan dan pemasaran Kolej IBS Miri Encik Peter Lim Kai Loong.

    Ceramah ini melibatkan 69 orang pelajar, ceramah yang berlansung selama dua jam ini mendapat maklum balas yang amat positif dimana salah seorang peserta Connie Anak Baring mengatakan “pengurusan tekanan dan cara mengendalikan tekanan yang disampaikan sebentar tadi banyak memberi tips dan keyakinan yang tinggi dalam menghadapi situasi positif atau negatif”

    Sementara itu adik Muhammad Faizal Bin Taha, mengatakan “tidak semua tekanan membawa kepada konklusi keburukkan tetapi jika dihadapi dengan cara yang betul pasti akan membawa kebaikkan”.

    Secara tidak langsung penerapan nilai bersaing secara sihat dapat dibentuk dalam kalangan pelajar untuk mendapat keputusan yang lebih cemerlang dan tidak mudah terpengaruh dengan gangguan emosi,persekitaran dan kehidupan seharian. Di akhir ceramah Kolej IBS Miri mengambil gambar kenang-kenangan bersama para pelajar serta bertukar cendera mata dari pihak sekolah SMK Luar Bandar dan Kolej IBS Miri .

  • KOLEJ IBS MIRI MEMBANTU PELAJAR MEMAHAMI TEKNIK MENJAWAB BM SPM

    Subjek Bahasa Melayu merupakan salah satu kompenen wajib lulus untuk melanjutkan pengajian selepas para pelajar menamatkan peperiksaan SPM mereka, Oleh itu Kolej IBS Miri telah menganjurkan ceramah khususnya bagi pelajar-pelajar yang akan menduduki peperiksaan SPM 2015.

    Ceramah “Menuju Kecemerlangan subjek Bahasa Melayu SPM 2015” berlangsung dengan jayanya disertai 9 buah sekolah di sekitar Miri iaitu Smk Luar Bandar, Smk Chung Hwa,Smk Luak, Smk Pujut, Smk Lutong, Smk Merbau, Smk Lopeng Tengah,Smk Dato Permaisuri Dan Smk Taman Tunku.

    Ceramah ini mendapat respon yang begitu positif di kalangan pelajar kerana pelajar yang menghadiri ceramah melebihi dari sasaran yang dihendaki, seramai 51 orang peserta yang terlibat.

    Ceramah ini dikendalikan oleh seorang penceramah yang berpengalaman luas dalam bidang bahasa melayu dan mempunyai pengalaman luas lebih dari 10 tahun, beliau ialah Encik Anuar Bin Ali. Turut terlibat sama dalam menjayakan program ini ialah dua orang pegawai Program Kausellor dari unit pemasaran iaitu encik Derell Ladi Ak Saga dan Encik Ricky Donald Ak Berji.

    Konklusinya di akhir bicara ceramah ini pelajar telah dipenuhkan dan diajar teknik menjawab serta mengkaji soalan dengan lebih mudah tepat dan kreatif baik kertas 1 dan kertas 2, maklum balas dari pelajar juga amat positif dan pelajar berasa cukup berpuas hati, ceramah yang berlangsung dari diakhiri majlis penutupan dengan disaksikan serta dihadiri oleh Penolong Pengetua IBS Kolej Miri iaitu Cik Maleensa Swee.

    IBS College and Persatuan Kepolisan Komuniti Sarawak (PKKS), jointly organized the first seminar on “Commercial Crime and Prevention” on 13th July 2015 in the college’s campus. The seminar was delivered by DSP. Collin Babat, the Head of Jabatan Pencegahan Jenayah dan Keselamatan Komuniti (JPJKK), PDRM Miri Branch.

    There are total 80 participants comprises of members of the PKKS and several company directors, senior managers, executive of various organizations in Miri and also the students of IBS College.

    DSP Collin who has experience over 19 years serving in the Police Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), his experience encompasses a broad spectrum of criminal investigation, including commercial crime and Community based policing shared extensively with the participants on the knowledge of the types of crime and also how to prevent to become a victim of those crimes.

    Mr. Jeff Chan, the Organising Secretary of Persatuan Kepolisan Komuniti Sarawak (PKKS), was invited to speak in the seminar and he shared the information about the objectives of the association and he invited the participants to join as one of the member of the association. Dr. Antony Hii the Principal of IBS College, in his speech during the opening ceremony, highlighted the importance of individual’s contribution to the crime prevention in our community and he introduced the new WhatsApp group which has been created among the member of the PPKS and the various police personnel to address the issues on crime and help each other to improve the safety in our community.

    Through the two hours talks, DSP Collin presented an informative presentation outlining strategies utilized by Police Department to combat fraud, commercial crime, and scam. As a lead investigator and subject matter expert, he answered questions regarding how members of the private sector can be more aware of potential commercial crimes and scams, as well as how to respond to them and who to call. He also explained the Cyber Laws in Malaysia used to govern the computer users and explained what could be the consequences of breaking the laws. His presentation also included several criminal cases analysis which include computer crime and murdered cases. He ended the seminar by teaching the participants how to prevent being a victim in all those criminal cases.

    At the conclusion of the seminar, a presentation was made to DSP Collin Babat by Dr. Antony Hii, which he was thanked for taking his time to give a seminar talks to the corporate’s guests, the lecturers and students of IBS College. The similar presentation was given to the Sergeant Tahil Anak Ahsai.

  • Seminar Talk for SMK Dato Permaisuri`s teachers

    A total of 38 teachers of SMK Dato Permaisuri attended a 3 hours training workshop which was held in the school`s training room. Speaker for the talk was Dr Antony Hii, the Principal and CEO of IBS College. Dr.Hii enlightened the participants on topic in the importance of working as a team and the needs to strengthen the conflict handling skills among the teachers.

    The training was conducted by IBS College under its community services project and this is the number fifteen training programs organized to help the teachers to learn new management skills and to fulfil part of their Latihan Dalam Perkhimatan (LDP) requirement. The main objective of the training is to motivate and strengthen the soft skills in management among the teachers.

    “This talk was highly interactive and the teachers found it very informative and we learned about different type of conflict resolution style which could be applied on individual with different type of personalities. These information which is very useful to us when handling conflicts not only among the teachers but also could be applied in our social life,” said Ms. Chong, the senior teacher of SMK Dato Permaisuri. One of the teachers said that, “they were thankful for the useful session and hoped more such talk and workshop would be held in future.”

    At the end of the talk, Dr. Hii presented a certificate of achievement to the school to record the training session and also for the LDP of all teachers. Cikgu Olga received the certificate on behalf of the school and teachers.   • Pelajar, Kakitangan Kolej IBS ‘GoBald’

    Selama empat tahun berturut-turut, Kolej IBS sekali lagi telah menjayakan Kempen ‘GoBald 7.0’ anjuran Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS)yang dilansungkan di Kolej IBS baru-baru ini. Aktiviti ini diadakan bagi mengutip dana untuk disumbangkan kepada tabung SCCS bagi membantu kanak-kanak yang mengidap kanser di Sarawak.

    Aktiviti yang dijalankan di hadapan pejabat Kolej IBS ini telah mendapat sambutan yang mengalakkan dengan 20 orang pelajar dan kakitangan IBS telah membotakkan kepala mereka sebagai simbolik bagi memberi kesedaran dan memberi menyokong kepada pengidap kanser di seluruh dunia. Secara keseluruhannya, Kolej IBS telah mengumpul dan menyumbangkan sebanyak RM5100 kepada SCCS.

    Pengetua Kolej IBS, Dr Antony Hii dalam ucapannya berkata, “saya ingin mengucapakn ribuan terima kasih kepada semua yang terlibat dalam menjayakan aktiviti ini terutamanya Majlis Pelajar Kolej IBS yang telah bersusah payah selama sebulan dalam mempromosikan aktiviti ini. Sehubungan dengan itu, dengan sukacitanya, Kolej IBS sekali lagi akan menyokong aktiviti ini pada tahun yang akan datang”.

    SCCS adalah sebuah pertubuhan sukarela bukan bermotifkan keuntungan ditubuhkan pada 26 September 1999 oleh sekumpulan ibu bapa kepada kanak-kanak yang mengidap kanser untuk mencari kaedah yang membolehkan mereka membantu antara satu sama lain dan anak-anak mereka.SCCS telah memperluaskan peranan dalam penyediaan sokongan dari segi kewangan dan emosi, serta penginapan untuk keluarga luar dan kemudahan rawatan kepada kanak-kanak.

    Kini, sebanyak 900 pesakit dan ibubapa telah mendapat sokongan dan bantuan daripada SCCS dangan purata sebanyak 70 pesakit setahun.

  • Motivational Talk for SMK Lutong’s Teachers

    As part of its community services and education partnership with schools in Miri, IBS College in collaboration with SMK Lutong held a two-hour motivational talk recently for the school teachers. The objective was to motivate teachers in improving the instruction and learning skill among the teachers.

    A total of 140 teachers have attended the talk which was held in the school`s hall. The speaker for the talk was Dr Antony Hii, the Principal and CEO of IBS College. He enlightened the participants on topic in how to motivate themselves and others, how to handle School Reform, how to achieve Professional Development and have self-evaluation.

    “This talk was highly interactive and many teachers found it has provided them with plenty of information and meaningful motivational stories which are very useful to boost up their motivation as a teacher,” said Mr. Marcus Hugo, the principal of SMK Lutong. One of the teachers said that, “they were thankful for the useful session and hoped that more such talk and workshop would be held in future.”

    At the end of the talk, Mr Marcus Hugo presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Dr Hii for conducting the session with the school teachers and Dr Hii has also presented a certificate of completion to the school for all teachers who have successfully completed the talk.   • GURU SMK LUAR BANDAR, SMK ULU BALINGIAN LAWAT KOLEJ IBS

    MIRI: Seramai 26 orang guru dan pengetua dari SMK Luar Bandar Sibu, SMK Ulu Balingian, Sibu telah mengadakan lawatan ke Kolej IBS baru-baru ini. Lawatan ini diiringi oleh Pengetua SMK Luar Bandar Sibu, Encik Wong Teck Ling.

    Lawatan ini dimulakan dengan taklimat ringkas daripada Pengurus Pemasarkan, Encik Peter Lim dan Naib Pengetua, Cik Cynthia Lian, tentang kursus yang ditawarkan oleh Kolej IBS serta sistem pengurusan di kolej. Di samping itu, guru-guru juga diperkenalkan dengan pelbagai biasiswa dan tajaan yang disediakan oleh pihak kolej kepada pelajar.

    Lawatan diteruskan dengan ceramah khas tentang `Transformation Leadership` dari Dr Antony Hii, Pengetua Kolej IBS. Dr Hii menegaskan pentingnya nilai kepimpinan di kalangan guru dan turut berkongsi teknik bagi meningkatkan nilai kepimpinan kepada guru-guru.

  • IBS College offer Diploma In Security and Safety Management Program to police personnel of PDRM

    In line with the Polis DiRaja Malaysia`s initiative to improve police qualifications and knowledge in the field, IBS college is offering a Security and Safety Management program to police personnel and personnel of other uniform bodies.

    College IBS recently was invited by the Training Branch of Ibu Pejabat Battalion 12 Pasukan Gerakan Am (PGA) Miri to hold a talk on the security and safety program which conducted in the College.

    Principal of IBS College, Dr Antony Hii and the marketing Manager, Peter Lim jointly introduced the content of the program and its benefits to help the police officers to improve their qualifications and knowledge in order to serve better in their duty as the police force.

    “To minimize any disruption to the officers in their daily duty, our College also provide a flexi-time classes arrangement of which will allow the police personnel and other working adults to attend the program while on duty” commented by Dr.Antony Hii. In addition, Dr. Hii highlighted that this program will be delivered by security experts who have vast experience and also held the highest academic, vocational, and professional qualifications in the subject.

    The security and safety program which leading to the certificate and diploma level, has been fully approved and registered by the Ministry of Education Malaysia, and provisionally accredited by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). PTPTN has also approved the students of this program to apply for the education loan.

    SPM and STPM leavers that interested to build their careers in security management and joining the uniform bodies are strongly encouraged to apply for the full time program.

  • Workshop to Improve Conflict Management Skill for Teachers of SMK Bukit Assek

    To continue the community service project and also the partnership with the schools in Sarawak, IBS College in collaboration with SMK Bukit Assek, Sibu has organized a workshop on 7th April 2015 for the all the teachers. The objective of the workshop is providing training to enhance the teaching and learning among the teachers.

    There are total 64 teachers attended the workshop which was held in the conference room of SMK Bukit Assek and the speaker for the workshop is Dr. Antony Hii, the Principal and CEO of IBS College.

    The topics covered in the workshop include identify and understanding of conflicts, understanding factors leading to conflicts, learning conflict management styles and practicing resolution strategies. The training has indicated few crucial issues such as how to identify conflicts and factors that leading to conflicts, how to improve the questioning skill and exploring individual’s conflict handling styles and how to handle conflicts with others.

    “The workshop conducted was highly interactive and many teachers find that the workshop has provided them many new information and techniques and very useful in helping them while working with both the students and their colleagues” commented by one of the teachers.

  • IBS College, Miri and SMK Tiong Hin, Sibu jointly conducting “Leadership development training camp and Scholarship Presentation”

    Date : 14th March 2015

    As part of the community service and also the education partnership with the schools in Sibu, IBS College, Miri has organized a one day Teamwork and Leadership Development Training Event on 14th March 2015 at SMK Tiong Hin, Sibu for a group of 100 student’s leaders, which include the prefects and class monitors.

    The training was conducted by the principal, Dr.Antony Hii together with the team of trainers from IBS College.

    “The objective of the activity was to help the school to enhance the team spirit of the student leaders, at the same time to improve their leadership skills” said Dr.Hii.

    The one day outdoor activities based training event includes the team formation, the development of mutual trust and also problem solving skills etc. All the student leaders which group in different teams participated actively and worked very hard as a team in the training. Each team competed eagerly and tried to become the best team.

    From the feedback given by students, they have learned a lot from all the activities especially in the area of working in team, leadership and communication. “We enjoyed the training. It is full of fun and also challenging for us. It is better than the classroom teaching as we can learn while getting involved in the action” said leader of one of the teams.

    Together with the training camp, Dr Hii also presented a special scholarship award to one of the best graduate of school, Miss Grace Siew Lin Choo, who scored 8As in the 2014 SPM examination. The scholarship is to offer Grace to study diploma and degree program in IBS.

  • IBS College allocated RM200,000 Scholarship for SPM graduates

    IBS College would like to congratulate all SPM students as their SPM results were released on the 3rd of March. As part of the college mission to continue to build up strong management elites for the fast growing and challenging business environment, IBS College has allocated a total of RM 200,000.00 worth of scholarship to be given out for successful SPM candidates who meet the college scholarship requirements.

    IBS College would also like to congratulate Mr Wong Sheng Kai, from SMK Chung Hua Miri who had scored 8 As in his SPM results. He was one of the candidate who received such scholarship and he was awarded a scholarship of RM 8000.00 to pursue his study in IBS College.

  • Student Study Tour to “Penjara Miri”

    A group of 31 students from the class of “Pengajian Malaysia” has made a study tour to “Penjara Miri” on 2nd July 2014. The main objectives for this study tour are:

    1. To educate students about the role played by the prison in the process of probationary for the inmate.

    2. Improve the knowledge of students about the Juriciary System of Malaysia.

    3. To learn how the prison’s administration operate.

  • Motivational Talk For Schools at Sibu

    Motivational Talks to Form Five students of SMK Lanang, SMK Bukit Assek, SMK Kampung Nangka, SMK Deshon, SMK Sungai Merah, and SMK Tiong Hin Sibu were successfully conducted on 06th August to 08th August 2014 by Dr Hii, the Principal of IBS College and together with 2 staff, Mr Peter Lim and Mr Ricky.

    Students have learned a lot from Dr. Hii about the methodology of dealing with self-esteem through the talk and apart from that, successful models have been shared as examples of role models in the talk. Dr. Hii has taught the students about the factors for failure and the success during the talk.

  • Korean Language Classes at IBS College, Miri

    IBS College will be organizing a 10 weeks Korean Language class held on every Wednesday starting next week, 3rd September 2014 at the College. The classes are held in response of high level of interest of the language as well as the culture, a result of the Korean wave in our shore. Conducted by a native South Korean, the classes will emphases on the speaking as well as basic Hangul characters reading and writing skills. At the end of the class, students are expected to be able to converse in Korean as well as read and write basic Hangul characters.

    In conjunction with the launching of the class, the UCSI degree program students have recently organized an advertisement designing competition promoting the class as part of their Extra-Curricular Learning Activities (ECA) at the college. ECA is required assessment for completion of UCSI degree program. IBS College is currently running B.A (Hons) Business Administration and the B.A (Hons) Accounting & Finance programs, in collaboration with UCSI University.

    Present to give away prizes to the winners at the simple prize presentation at the college, was the Korean language class facilitator, Ms Sarah Park Sowon who hailed from Seoul, South Korea. Ms Park was trained as a culinary chef for a major hotel in Singapore for the past 6 years prior settling in Miri. Ms Park speaks excellent English and slight Mandarin.

    The competition attracted numerous submissions by the students at IBS College. The winning entry was designed by Mr Simon Lee while the first and second runner up is Mr Lee Kuet Chiang and Ms Fong Yee Chi respectively.

    继日语学习班之后,IBS学院再一次从国外引进了新的外语,韩语。

    引进外语的主要目的在于希望本地学生可以透过学习外语,更加的了解外国文化。于是本学院开创了这个韩语学习班,并聘请了一名韩国小姐,Miss Sarah Park Sowon,担任本学院的韩语教师,以提供一个可以给学生们增加并了解更多知识的机会。这位导师是首尔人士,在应聘于IBS 学院导师之前,她受聘于新加坡一家知名酒店担任厨师,时间长达六年。导师精通韩语及英语,这源于她长期生活在外地,已经习惯使用英文与人做交流。

    在此之前,学院为了让更多人知道此班即将创立,思雅特大学(IBS学院的合作伙伴-UCSI University)的学生举办了一个海报设计活动,主题用于韩语课程招生,包括了导师名字,开班日期,学习费用等等。通过两个礼拜的选拔,获胜者名单已出炉,以下是获奖者名单:

  • IBS Student Community Service at Rumah Jarek Long House

    On 2nd August 2014, twenty six students of IBS College, taking MPU Subject, took part in the Community Service led by their lecturer, Ms Cynthia Lian, and another staff member, Mr. Ricky Donald. They visited the longhouse, Rumah Jarek, which is located at Kampung Lambir, Miri. The aim of the visit was to learn about the culture of the Iban Community and at the same time allow IBS student to do some community service at the long house.

    The IBS students and staff were received warmly by the longhouse folks at Rumah Jarek. After the longhouse chief had delivered his welcoming speech, the day’s activities started. Activities for the day included, cleaning the surrounding area of the long house and games with the people.

    The students were then entertained by the teenagers of the long house who performed the ethnic traditional dance called “Ngajat” and all the students were so excited to learn the dance as well.

    The student leaders for this project were Patricia Ting Sze Zhing, assisted by Adi Amirulzzaman. We must congratulate them for the good job in organizing this event.

  • IBS College Officially launches “Business Leadership Entrepreneurship and Investment Society” [BLEIS] as part of Extra Curricular Activities

    This event is organized by Dr. Jireh and Dr. Anthony Hii on behalf of IBS College for their students especially those undertaking Degree Courses. Various benefits could attained by students for their participation in this Extra Curricular Activity. There are both Degree and Diploma students who attended the launching today to understand and shows positive interest in this newly formed Society.

    The goals and activities of this society are:

    • 1. give students evidence of participation of ECA in an area directly relevant to business-school students;
    • 2. an edge in employment due to evidence of ECA activities in one's resume/CV;
    • 3. learning development in the areas directly related to your studies in business [Business Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Investment];
    • 4. preparations for GEMS which will allow you to be place in top companies in Malaysia for industrial training and GET PAID RM1,000 a month IN ADDITION to what the salaries the placement companies pay you....see http://www.mygemsportal.com.my/ for details;
    • 5. experience and participation in bringing in companies and sponsors for business-related competitions, with prizes and rewards, for tertiary students in Miri [or just IBS students];

  • IBS College Achieve 5 Stars under MYQUEST Ranking, the highest quality business College in Miri

    IBS College has achieved the FIVE STARS standard under the category for Social Science, Business and Law Program which was evaluated by the Malaysia Quality Evaluation System for Private Colleges (MyQuest 2012-13). The five stars ranking was awarded to IBS College for its excellent quality in providing the business education. Achieving the five stars ranking, it illustrates that IBS is one of the best 31 private colleges out of the 138 offering business programs in the country and it is also the top three in Sarawak.

    Apart from the quality in program delivery, IBS College also scored four stars in the category of international student’s readiness and management. This proves that IBS has the ability to recruit and management international students who wish to pursue their tertiary education in Miri.

    MYQUEST is an abbreviation for Malaysian Quality Evaluation System for Private Colleges. The system was developed by the Ministry of Education (MOE) Malaysia as an instrument to evaluate the current performance of private colleges in Malaysia。 There are total 211 private colleges have been evaluated.

    The six main evaluation criteria of the rating process include students, resources, quality of management system, program recognition and graduates recognition. And the rating is classified as 6 stars (Outstanding), 5 stars (Excellent), 4 Stars (Very good), 3 stars (Good), 2 stars (Satisfactory), 1 star (Poor).

    “Since our establishment in 1998, IBS College has been well accepted and recognized by the parents and local industry as a quality provider in both management education and training. With the endorsement by the Ministry of Education, IBS will continue to strive and commit in providing better quality education” said Dr.Hii, the principal of IBS.

  • Two New Degree programmes in IBS with UCSI University

    UCSI University and IBS College has entered the partnership to offer two new degree programmes in Miri, Sarawak. The two new programmes include:

    • 1.B.A. (Hons.) Accounting and Finance
    • 2.B.A. (Hons.) Business Administration

    The two degree programmes which are fully approved by MOHE and accredited by MQA under the ownership of UCSI University, also received accreditation and recognition from many international professional bodies which include the ACCA, UK and many others.

    Subject to the approval by the relevant authorities, the two new degree programmes will commence on January 2013.

    Scholarships and sponsorships to students who have good academic result and also those who are in need, College will also help all students to apply for educational loans from PTPTN and other financial organizations”
